Sí Papi Soft Launch
**THE MENU**
¡Hola compadres y comadres!
This is your personal invitation to join us, this coming Sunday 12th of December, for the first taste of Sí Papi—a Peruvian street food pop-up that Rodrigo and James have been developing for a little while now.
This is a stand-up, soft launch.
As such, we'll have a photographer present to capture the experience.
Unless advised otherwise, all you need to do is rock up, so we can begin serving you at 1:00PM ;)
Take a read below to see the full menu we are preparing for you.
**PLEASE NOTE**
If you (or any guests we've invited through you) have any dietary requirements, please text us immediately on 0472 733 774 to ensure we cater for everyone attending, accordingly
Sí Papi SOFT LAUNCH
Sunday 12 December
1—3PM*
24a Blackburn Street
Tarntanya 5000
A bit of back story
Rodrigo's Dad, Alvaro, and James' mother, Clarisa, are the eldest boy and eldest girl in a family of seven children, who first immigrated from Peru in November, 1969. While some of the children returned home, most raised their families in different parts of Australia, with the majority now residing here in Adelaide.
'Tio' Alvaro, a true bastion of the culture, always clung dearly to our culinary traditions (not just drinking Pisco) so when young Rodrigo came of age, he passed these practices on. While clearly quite tongue-in-check, Sí Papi is an homage to Alvaro, his fiery passion, and his relentless desire to uphold these traditions to keep our family bond as strong as ever.
Given our ongoing social climate, rather than launch to the public, we felt it wise to gather a private group of close friends and industry associates at my place in the city. We feel this approach is far more fitting as this is, after all, something very close to our hearts.
And on the topic of hearts!
In its purest form, our signature dish 'anticuchos', originated as 'comida de pauvre'—food of the poor. As such, the traditional ingredients were usually the cheapest or least-wanted cuts of meat. In our family, we grew up eating anticuchos made with marinated (deliciously tenderised) pieces of Ox Heart. Though delectable, from prior experience we've found this ingredient to be confronting to some palates, so we have reworked the menu accordingly.
For the Sí Papi experience: we are making anticuchos with Kangaroo Fillet, prepared in the traditional way, as an ideal (and far more sustainable) alternative.
For the adventurous: we will have serves of 'The Real Deal' available, made with ox heart, prepared in the traditional way.
For the vegetarians and vegans: we have a sumptuous menu prepared for you, featuring Swiss Brown + Capsicum skewers, prepared with the same 24hr (vegan) marinade, served with kipfler potatoes and a substitute salsa that we have tasted ourselves and deem to be '¡muy delicioso!'.
